Our project started around eighteen months ago, initially as a social experience, but we embraced this new skill, sought professional training and began a journey to take this hobby to the heart of the community.

We recruited other like minded neighbours, with whom our ideas of opening a community bakery were shared, and we have been working tirelessly to realise this dream ever since.

To this end we have taken our bread to several local markets to ensure we were right in our assumption that local people were keen for quality, artisan bread – we were right!

At last we were able to open our Community Bakery ‘Bread Actually’ at Bedale’s Wensleydale Railway Building in June this year, from which we bake and sell our range of hand crafted, slow proved, artisan bread five days a week.
